About Santa Ponsa
It is a tourist town belonging to the municipality of Calviá, in Mallorca. It contains a beach of about 500 m. Due to the length of the bay that encloses it, it barely has waves and has little depth, which is why during the tourist season it is very popular for family tourism with children. Next to it is a beautiful natural area, the “pine forest”, with dune soil, populated with pine.
It contains another thirty meters long called «Caló de’n Pellicer», a marina and a hundred hotels, apartments, shops, bars, nightclubs and restaurants. It is internationally recognized for the large influx of tourists who visit it every year.
History
It is known as the place where King Jaime I landed, initiating the
reconquest of Mallorca in 1229 when it was under Muslim rule.
Parties
In its patronal festivity, a simulation of the confrontation occurred after the landing by Jaime I, on the beach, called “Moors and Christians”, commemorating the battle against the Arabs on September 10, 1229.
