Can Picafort is a big village with more than 7000 thousand inhabitants. It will take you 55 minutes to get there. It belongs to the municipality of Santa Margarita. Park of Son Real
The public Country House of Son Real is a historical and natural treasure. It is located at the north-west of Majora and it has 395 hectares of terrain. There, you can find the ancient house, some archeologic sites, various ecosystems with dune and pine forest zones, old sand quarries, 4 walking routes and 3 bike ones, an information office and the option to rent bikes and binoculars for free.
Necrópolis de Son Real (Cemetery of Son Real)
It is located beside the sea and it is in the domains of the Park of Son Real. It is possible to get there from the beach of Son Bauló. The walk is approximately 3 km long. You can also go from the Country House of Son Real.
One hundred and nine graves have survived the pass of the years. When it was explored, the rests of four hundred humans were found there. It was first used in the VII century before Christ, just after the Talayotic period. The number of objects found in the graves suggests that the humans buried there where important people, maybe from the cemetery community or form near
communities. Son real was a special, magic place, destined to the chosen ones
who, generation after generation were buried here hoping to start a new life.
Talayot de Sa Nineta
This squared talayot was built during the Iron age and repair during the ’60s. It is also known as “Cova de sa Nineta”. It is eleven meters long and its door
faces south-est. It is something frequent of these monuments with an
astrophysicist or ceremonial character. Is believed that this monument used to be part of a sanctuary, probably destroyed when the road was built. You can still see some ruined rests covered by vegetation. It is a great option for all the archaeology lovers, who can spend some hours enjoying the rest of this ancient construction.
Can Picafort’s beach
Can Picafort has a great beach with crystalline water. It is a great option if you
are staying in Can Picafort and you don’t want to spend your time going to
another beach. It is easy to get there and the beach is highly watched by lifeguards. You can also find public toilets and showers and bars on the
seafront.
Beach of Muro – Es Comú
It is located at 1 km of Can Picafort. It is an immense sandy area considered
one of the most unspoilt beaches of the Bay of Alcudia. It has thin white sand,
transparent water and a unique system of sand dunes. It can be quite difficult to get there because the pine forest zone is closed to road traffic. It is a great
option if you want to go for a walk and enjoy a calmed and unspoilt beach.
